ALLOUT – Will You Sell Your Soul to Solve this Fun, Free Logic Puzzle Game?
Review by on
Let me start off by asking you a simple question: what do you do when you have a bit of free time on your hand? If you answered that you like to go out with your friends for a beer, or that you like to go out with your girlfriend to see a movie, then by all means go do those things. You can come back later.

But if you answered that you like to stay in an play an amusing, free, logic puzzle game, then I have just the game for you – the NCBuy-offered, Flash-based game ALLOUT. If you want to start playing the game right away, you can head over to miniclip.com. You can play the game from within your browser. If you like the game and want to install it on your computer, then you need to download and install it on your Windows-powered computer – but more about that later.

Let’s focus on the game for a bit. The goal in this game is to turn out all of the glowing lights. By clicking a spot on the board, the state of the piece you click and the state of the pieces adjacent to that one will change. This is to say that if you clicked a lit piece, it will turn off; if you clicked a piece that’s off, it will light up. The goal is to turn off all the lights on the board. You will when they are ALLOUT (see what I did here?).

The game’s first 4 levels are meant to be an introduction to the game, so you shouldn’t have a problem putting out all the lights. The levels after that increase in difficulty, until they are pretty darn hard. Luckily for you, you can cheat by pressing the “Solve” button. Be warned though! There’s a price to pay for pressing that button. It’s your soul!

I mentioned above that you can play ALLOUT online at miniclip.com or you can download and install the game on your Windows-powered PC. Here are the bits and pieces you need to know about if you decided to do so:
Download – the download weighs in at 1.9MB, so it will complete in a blink.
Supported OS – the developer says ALLOUT provides support for Windows 98, 2000, ME, NT and XP. But since ALLOUT is a Flash-based game, it should work with other Windows versions as well.
Limitations – there are none since the ALLOUT is freeware.

Pros
  • Lightweight download
  • Freeware
  • Fun game
  • You can play it online or download, install it, and play it offline

Cons
  • Be careful during the installation process or you will end up with some useless shortcuts on your desktop. The software also invites you to check out some sweepstakes thing during the installation process, so make sure to understand what you’re getting into before you click “Next.”
